Melnik, Rozhen Monastery and Rupite SPA
You could call it a cultural or historical trip, even a wine tour and all would be correct.
Melnik is considered the smallest Bulgarian town, which however could offer you a lot. This is a journey towards the very south west of Bulgaria, a region known for mild Mediterranean climate and the great wine traditions for thousands of years. Strolling on the narrow streets of the small town located on the south slopes of Pirin Mountain you will meet a lot of friendly and very hospitable Bulgarians. We will stop at Kordopulova House – the biggest house which nowadays is a Museum with a huge wine cellar at the basement.
In the afternoon we will visit one of the most famous Bulgarian Monasteries -Rozhen. It is only a few minutes drive from Melnik, however the journey is very scenic – on the way you will enjoy breathtaking panoramas towards the sand pyramids. Our last stop will be at Rupite – located in the heart of the old Kozhuh volcano – this place was chosen by the famous Bulgarian prophet Vanga because of its energizing power of the water. Indeed the water is coming from the ground of the volcano on the surface so hot and even during cold winter time the place looks vital and full of energy.
This is a full day in the south west of Bulgaria in a region full of traditions and wine.
