Magical Winter Adventure – 8 Days Guided Snowshoeing Trek
Have you been on snowshoes before? This is a great experience giving you unlimited opportunities to go further in the wild winter mountain where you can enjoy the beauty of the pure nature. We would be delighted to guide you around the greatest Bulgarian mountains and to share our knowledge and experience about our country. This is a magnificent opportunity to see the highlight of the winter mountains – a truly adventure not to be missed. The programme is very diverse and includes a little bit of everything – forest and alpine terrains, frozen lakes and traverse of summits combined with cultural tour towards the famous Rila Monastery. We could also add some extra value to this holiday – taking you to the hot mineral springs – after a long day in the mountain this is the best way to treat yourself. Level Of Difficulty: Medium, suitable for people in good physical shape, no previous experience on snow shoes required.
Price: 690 euros per person, minimum 6 persons.
Included: Transport from and to Sofia airport on transfer days; transfers as per itinerary, English-speaking guide; accommodation in 3* hotel with private facilities on HB basis (breakfast and dinner incl.); lift tickets where applicable; hire of snow shoes and trekking poles, all local taxes and parking tickets.
Not included: flight tickets, personal mountain insurance, single room supplement (90 euro per person), entrance fees (for museums, hot mineral springs etc), lunch/ lunch packs, any food and drink during the hikes, mountain maps, personal expenses, tips.
Transfer from Sofia Airport to Bansko. Accommodation in a 3* hotel.
Pirin Mountain, Bezbog peak. Lift to Bezbog hut at 2240 m – a starting point of the hike. Our destination is peak Bezbog at 2645 m.↑400 m, ↓400 m, Duration of the hike – around 4-5 hours walk, 1 hour on the lift (30 min each way).Distance ~5.5 km.
Today we will explore Banderitsa Valley. Our starting point of the hike is at Shiligarnika, above Bansko– we cross the ski area on snowshoes heading off towards Vihren Hut – at nearly 2000 m. En Route we will stop at Baykusheva Mura – the oldest fir tree in Bulgaria – ca. 1300 years old. Later we stop at the hut to relax and then return to Shiligarnika area. ↑400 m, ↓400 m, Duration of the hike approx. 5-6 hours, Distance 8-9 km. Overnight in Bansko.
After breakfast we head off towards the hidden gem of Rila – Semkovo resort for a wonderful snow shoe trek and then, later in the afternoon we will visit the famous Rila monastery- the largest on the Balkans,part of UNESCO. ↑300 m, ↓ 300 m, Duration of the hike 3 – 4 hours, Distance ~5.5 km, Transfer to Sapareva Banya resort.
Transfer towards the Seven Rila Lakes lift, starting point of the hike – top station of the lift at 2100 m. The trek continues around 5 of the lakes in the cirque. ↑200 m ↓200 m, Duration of the hike around 5-6 hours, Distance ~4 km. Transfer to Govedartsi for 2 nights.
Our destination is the Icy Lake@ 2710 m, the highest in Rila mountain, at the foot of the highest peat on the Balkans Mussala.. We take the gondola from Borovets ski resort and the hike starts from the top station at 2350 m. Traversing the alpine terrain we walk around the frozen lakes before heading off to the foot of highest summit in Bulgaria and on the Balkans.↑350 m, ↓350 m, Duration of the hike 7 hours. Distance ~11 km. Transfer to Sofia.
Vitosha mountain. A short transfer to Aleko hut, the starting point of the hike. We continue towards the highest peak in this mountain – Cherni Vrah(the black peak) at 2290 m. This is the highest point and then we descend back to Aleko Hut. Return to Sofia city. ↑490 m, ↓490 m, Duration of the hike around 5 hours. Overnight in Sofia
Transfer to the airport.
